Don’t worry Kinundra. I have been a bad blogger too! I have tried to keep up a fitness routine but these last few week have been difficult.
It has been soooo hot and my walking schedule has fluctuated from a few times during the week to nil. Early mornings and late evenings are not good times for me. I could go another time during the day, but I would find my jogging stroller wheels melted on the pavement half way through. Is it because I am getting older? or does it just seem unreasonably hot? The kiddos, dogs, and I just hole ourselves up in the house during the high heat and hope the air conditioner can keep it’s 24/7 pace and keep it cooled t0 80. This saddens me because I really am an outdoorsy person. I love love to garden and putter in the yard. Even last year I was taking several walks during the hottest parts of the day, but this year feels different. I even started to break out in a rash on my arms if I am in the hot too long……ohhh woes of getting old and living in hot as heck Texas I suppose.
Have no fear however, I do have the tread mill and have actually started the Couch to 5 k Program. I am on week 2 run 3. I did miss my last run. It has been 4 days so I will start week 2 over again. I love the C25K program. I did it a few years ago and it was surprisingly gentle and before I knew it I was running! I don’t have a problem physically doing the workout. Timing is the killer factor in this situation. Finding the time to workout with a baby that hates to nap is by far the biggest challenge I have so far. Baby J has woken up from his nap every time I start to get into it. When he wakes, I usually put him in the swing next to the treadmill, but so far he is not impressed with just sitting still. I have so many other things I need to fit into the day as well, so the window of opportunities are small. Bugger! Doing Yoga is pretty much the same story. The solution I know is to get up earlier, but when the baby is still asleep it is too hard to crawl out of bed. School will be starting soon for the teenage one so that will change. There will be lunches and breakfasts to be made and things to argue about in preparation for the school day. Perhaps if I can keep the tiny one asleep I can squeeze some AM yoga in……
As far as healthy eating is going, we are still shopping at whole foods and still love organic eating. I am trucking on strong as a vegetarian but am having a hard time getting enough protein. As a breastfeeding mommy I need a lot of protein and iron. The iron pills help and will be more diligent in getting enough protein throughout the day. I have recently had an issue with keeping my milk supply up even though I feel like I’m nursing 24/7, so I have to be really diligent in eating healthy.
This is all I know for now. Stay strong.
